Biography
Joshua Bilmes is a literary agent with Jabberwocky Literary Agency. Joshua is also the President of Jabberwocky Literary Agency, which he founded in 1994. He has been an agent for almost 30 years, having made his professional debut at the Scott Meredith Literary Agency in 1986.His path to owning his own literary agency started in high school, when he sent monthly letters to the editor of Analog, the leading science fiction magazine, critiquing each issue. These letters so impressed Betsy Mitchell, the magazineÕs associate editor, that she offered Bilmes the chance to do freelance readers reports and other work for her when she joined Baen Books shortly after its inception (Betsy eventually left Baen for high-level positions at Warner, Ballantine/Del Rey and other major sf/f imprints and now guides the sf/f program for Open Road Media and freelances at Betsy Mitchell Editorial Services). Joshua Bilmes and the publishing industry took an immediate liking to one another, and he started at Scott Meredith soon after graduating from the University of Michigan with a BA in History. While his path to becoming an agent went through the science fiction genre, his interests were and are far broader. In the mystery genre, the Hardy Boys led to the Three Investigators, and from there to Agatha Christie, Perry Mason, the 87th Precinct and John LeCarre. He became a Variety junkie during high school and read it every week for as long as there was a weekly Variety. His college degree in history introduced him to The New Republic, and he now also reads The New Yorker. He keeps up on pop culture with Rolling Stone and spends fifteen hours a week reading newspapers. ThereÕs always time for a good movie, and tennis and Australian Rules Football are often his background music.A debut mystery novel, MARYÕS GRAVE by Malcolm McClintick, which became BilmesÕ first sale in the summer of 1986. By the end of the 1980s he had commenced work with Charlaine Harris, Elizabeth Moon, Simon Green, Tanya Huff and other current mainstays of the JABberwocky list. While at Scott Meredith, Bilmes also helped out with the accounts of major agency clients like Carl Sagan and P.G. Wodehouse. After Scott Meredith passed away in 1993, Bilmes was promoted to Vice President, gaining important managerial experience. In 1994, Bilmes struck out on his own to establish JABberwocky Literary Agency, which in recent years has become the worldÕs leading literary agency for science fiction and fantasy.

Biography
Amy Bishop-Wycisk is a literary agent with Trellis Literary Management. She joined Trellis Literary Management in 2023 after eight years with Dystel, Goderich & Bourret. She represents a wide-ranging list in fiction, nonfiction, and YA. Across the board, she has a special interest in underrepresented voices, especially from the AAPI community. In fiction, sheÕs seeking upmarket and book club fiction (to her, this means a high concept, commercial hook with more upmarket or literary writing), stories with an element of mystery or suspense, and is always looking for a propulsive plot married with beautiful writing. SheÕs eagerly looking for historical fiction, literary horror, and SFF written by women of color, coming-of-age-stories, and retellings from around the world. In nonfiction, her tastes trend toward expert-driven narrative nonfiction, cultural criticism, history, and pop culture; regardless of genre, books that are engaging with a contemporary conversation are always of interest. In YA, sheÕd love books with murder and intrigue, featuring unexpected places and unexpected heroines; more immigrant stories; queer stories; girls quietly (or loudly) working for justice, and of course, a light-hearted contemporary romp to balance out all the murder. Her incredible clients have been NYT, USA Today, and Indie Bestsellers, a ReeseÕs Book Club pick, and winners of the James Beard Award and Edgar Awards. Before diving into the world of publishing, she graduated from SUNY Geneseo with degrees in Creative Writing and German. Though she grew up upstate, she currently resides in Woodside, Queens with her sweet husband and very demanding cat. AmyÕs favorite non-client authors (if your work is similar, please reach out!): Parini Shroff, Grace D. Li, R.F. Kuang, Sarah Gailey, Jia Tolentino, Patrick Radden Keefe, Erika Krause, Amanda Montell, Chloe Gong, Stacey Lee.

Biography
Eloy Bleifuss is a literary agent with Neon Literary. He represents both fiction and nonfiction. On the fiction side, Eloy is especially interested in literary fiction along with character-driven, elevated genre fiction. His favorite novels are ones that bridge the high and the low, the real and the imaginary, the trashy and the serious. In nonfiction, Eloy is always eager to be introduced to an under-explored subject, no matter the exact field of studyÑso long as the writer can make their passion infectious. HeÕs looking for obsessives who can take a single topic and explode it into a vast, multidisciplinary inquiryÑwhether theyÕre writing about science, the arts, pop culture, history, or current events. He is especially drawn to the works of experts writing authoritatively and legibly about complex systems like capitalism, identity, and the climate crisis in a way that renders them down to the human scale. Most of all, Eloy is looking for writers, whether of fiction or nonfiction, who are clear-eyed about the realities of the world but still hold onto a certain amount of hard-earned hope. He also has a special affinity for writers who look beyond borders and write stories about crossing or existing between countries and cultures.Prior to joining Neon, Eloy worked at Janklow & Nesbit Associates for five years and at Simon & Schuster for another two before then. Born and raised in Chicago, he is a graduate of Vassar College, and he has spent periods teaching English in Madrid and studying in Montevideo. Eloy now lives in (well, surprise) Brooklyn.

Alice Brinkman
Alice Brinkman Literary AgencyAccepting SubmissionsQuery Method(s): Email or Online FormBiography
Alice Brinkman is a literary agent with and the founder of the Alice Brinkman Literary Agency. She says: “Three things that may help writers, agents, and publishers know me: I love writing. I love research, I love reading. This is who I am and why I started my literary agency. First, it is the perfect job for me. I taught elementary school and high school English for almost 23 years in the public sector. During my time teaching at the high school level, my favorite curriculum was teaching literature, poetry, and creative writing. I was also the advisor for the newspaper for ten years. I have been very fortunate to have been able to pursue and nurture my passion for writing, reading and teaching English but I knew the transition to becoming a literary agent would be a natural one for me. So, in 2019 right before the pandemic hit, I created my agency. I have not looked back. I am one agent, with one editor in New York who is a recent graduate from Columbia School of Journalism. She works remote for three magazines copy writing and editing. We read everything. My agency gets submissions every week. I have signed several clients and I am working every day to find a perfect fit for them. While it is true, I don’t have 25 years of experience, nor do I have a list of writers that I have helped obtain six figure advances. I am not embarrassed by that fact because like my writers who submit to me they are only hoping to get signed by an agent. I have to do the rest of the work to convince a publisher to read their material, no easy task by any stretch of the imagination. Rome was not built in a day right? I am hopeful and keep my nose to the grindstone. It will happen, just like it did for all those other agencies out there who started out twenty-five years ago. Like me, they may have started out from their dining room table alone with one editor too. I work from my computer wherever I am. This is all part of the dream, and I am beyond grateful to be doing it. I have been asked to include some information about myself and so I apologize for the length of this page.Another fact is thatI am a novice in this endeavor, however, I am also a highly qualified former educator. I hold a Bachelors in English Literature from the University of California, San Diego, a Masters of Arts in Education Studies from the University of California, San Diego, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from National University. I worked full time while at National University to pay my bills like most in class/online students. It took me three and a half years to obtain that degree. I know that there are plenty of people who question the rigor or veracity of this learning institution but it was one of the proudest moments of my life when I obtained that degree. Namely because I finished a novel I had been wanting to write even before I entered elementary school, and I finally did it. I have been asked why I have never pitched it to anyone, the truth is I have been editing and rewriting it for the last nine years. No regrets, I was too busy teaching at the time, advising students, and traveling with students across Europe. I am writing a book right now in my spare time. Ha! I don’t have spare time, I am in no hurry, it is a pleasure when I can fit it in. Let’s see what else, I am married, have one son. I travel to Europe twice a year to my little home in Italy where I can read without many interruptions. My career now, post teaching, is committed to finding publishing contracts for my clients. My website focuses on the business side of my agency. That is why I did not include my bio on my website and because I am a very private person. I enjoy spending time with my books and reading more than having a full social calendar. I am a writer, currently working writing chapters when I am not reading manuscripts. I am a dreamer, and I believe wholeheartedly in what the writers who send me their writing are doing, trying to make their dreams come true. I am trying to help them achieve that dream. My promise is that I will get their work out into the publishing universe, the rest hinges on their writing. I work very hard like the majority of agents and editors in this business, maybe more because my clients want to know I can make this happen for them. Unfortunately, as I said before, I will do all I can but the writing will be what makes the publishers want to sign them. Yes, it would be nice to be a huge success as a literary agent but everything I have ever wanted in my life has been because of determination, never giving up, and always staying hopeful and positive. That is it. I hope this long, boring bio satisfies the curiosity of anyone who wants to know who Alice Brinkman is. Most will discover that it is not that different or special from anyone else but I am definitely someone you can count on to work hard sending your writing into the hands of those that really can make dreams come true. Now go on writers, back to work. Write on!!! Alice Brinkman.”

Biography
Linda Camacho is a literary agent with the Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency. She was always a fan of escaping into a good book, so the fact that she gets to make it her career is still surreal. She graduated from Cornell with a B.S. in Communication and has seen many sides of the industry. SheÕs held various positions at Penguin Random House, Dorchester, Simon and Schuster, and Writers House literary agency until she ventured into agenting at Prospect. She’s done everything from foreign rights to editorial to marketing to operations, so it was amazing to see how all the departments worked together to bring books to life. Somewhere in between all that (and little sleep), Linda received her MFA in creative writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Now at Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency, Linda continues to work with colleagues and clients who inspire her every day in both the childrenÕs and adult categories.

After four years of championing authors from the publishing side of the business, she took the plunge into agenting.
