Biography
Louise Fury is a literary agent with and the founder of The Fury Agency. She says: ÒBorn in South Africa, I now live in New York City and travel to Cape Town every year for two months, where I spend time working with South African writers, promoting literacy, meeting with international publishers and distributing books to disadvantaged communities. Before agenting, I worked in marketing and advertising for both the consumer markets and publishing.
Prior to joining The Bent Agency, I worked as a literary agent at the L. Perkins Agency. I represent numerous New York Times and USA Today best-selling authors and I am a huge advocate of utilizing secondary rightsÑIn addition to print/traditional rights, I have also sold film/TV, audio, gaming, distribution and foreign rights for my clients. I believe in staying ahead of the pack by embracing change, not just adapting to it.
IÕm looking for writers with a unique voice and an unforgettable and interesting story. I love experimental/unique structure, language, verse and formats.
For YA and MG, IÕd love modern retellings, STEM stories, heartfelt and/or funny contemporary novels and all types of middle grade fantasy. Always looking for books with well developed secondary characters.
For nonfiction IÕm particularly interested in pop science, self-help, cookbooks, true crime, humor, pop culture and sports. In romance, I love female heroines with unusual jobs or jobs usually reserved for the hero. IÕd love it to be a layered, light and fun contemporary novel or a fresh and modern historical that reads like a romantic comedy. I love the fish-out-of-water trope, stories about nannies, body positivity, strong writing and diverse voices.”

Biography
Shannon Gallagher is a literary agent with the Wernick & Pratt Agency. She spent more than twelve years in the marketing departments at various adult trade publishers, including Rodale, Macmillan, Penguin Random House, and Simon & Schuster. After moving from Brooklyn to upstate New York, she spent several years as a book reviewer and copywriter. When she saw an opening at Wernick & Pratt, she was intrigued at the thought of learning about both literary agencies and childrenÕs literature, two facets of publishing she had not yet had the opportunity to explore. After two years learning as much as she possibly could from the accomplished, dedicated agents here, Shannon was thrilled to become an Associate Agent, where she could utilize her marketing experience -Ð getting the right information to the right people Ð- to better identify, encourage, and promote authors and illustrators. Shannon is interested in both fiction and nonfiction in all categories of childrenÕs literature, from picture books to young adult, and she especially welcomes underrepresented perspectives. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College (go, Seven Sisters!), Shannon lives with her husband and daughter in the beautiful Hudson Valley.

She avoids reading books in which children are endangered or abused. ThereÕs enough true suffering in the world that she prefers not to read about it. Biography
Marc Gerald is a literary agent and founder of Europa Content Ltd. Gerald started his career as an editor at True Detective Magazine, before spending four years as a writer/producer at AmericaÕs Most Wanted. While there, he conceived and produced the showÕs recreations as well as countless full-length TV specials for Fox.
Eventually, Gerald left Fox to head up ABA Award winning Old School Books, an imprint of WW Norton books, that is widely credited with starting a resurgence in interest in urban black literature. After publishing close to 25 books with Old School, as well as co-writing and co-producing the Stratosphere release of Six Ways to Sunday (based upon one of its titles) Gerald moved on to form The Syndicate with Wesley Snipes and Def Jam. Determined to bring literature and a love of reading to a young, urban and primarily black audience, Gerald commissioned novellas from some of hip hopÕs brightest stars and sold them with CDÕs supplied by Def Jam. Eventually, GeraldÕs interest in germinating original ideas and packaging innovative concepts led him to representation and the formation of Los Bravos Management.
In August 2004, LBM was acquired by The Agency Group. In 2016, The AGency Group was purchased by United Talent Agency. Gerald left in May 2018 to start Europa Content.

Biography
Josh Getzler is a literary agent with HG Literary. Josh left Harcourt in 1993 to get an MBA from Columbia Business School. After Business School, Josh spent 11 years owning and operating a minor league baseball team (the Staten Island Yankees). He left baseball in late 2006 and rejoined the book world on the agent side. Josh worked at Writers House until November 2009, building a list of adult novelists, YA and middle grade authors, and the occasional nonfiction writer; then joined Russell and Volkening. In May 2011 he partnered with Carrie Hannigan, and has been actively and happily running his list.
Josh represents more than 60 authors, including Geoff Rodkey (NYT Best Selling THE TAPPER TWINS series from Little, Brown), Paul Goldberg (THE YIDÑPicador), Todd Moss (The Judd Ryker thriller series from Putnam), EJ Copperman/Jeff Cohen (The best-selling HAUNTED GUEST HOUSE series from Berkley Prime Crime among others), EM Powell (The FIFTH KNIGHT series from Thomas & Mercer with more than 150,000 sales), Jessica Burkhart (Best Selling CANTERWOOD CREST series), Asha Dornfest (PARENT HACKS out from Workman) and Gerald Elias (the Daniel Jacobus mystery series from Severn).
Josh is particularly into foreign and historical fiction; both womenÕs fiction (your Downton Abbey/Philippa Gregory Mashups), straight ahead historical fiction (think Wolf Hall or The Road to Wellville); and thrillers and mysteries (The Alienist, say; or Donna Leon or Arianna Franklin). HeÕd LOVE a strong French Revolution novel. So send in your ruthless doges and impious cardinalsÉand your farmhouse cozies! (He does love coziesÉ) Give him atmosphere, let him learn something about another time or another place (or both), and kill off nasty Uncle Mortimer in the processÑJosh will be yours!
Josh has also been taking on a significant amount of middle grade fiction, which has been a particular sweet spot. Settings that are just a little off seem to be a real favorite, along with contemporary/funny books about kids. Not so much high fantasy or science fiction, and definitely not picture books. (There are many others who specialize in these books, including Carrie Hannigan at HG.) Please donÕt send religious fictionÐhe doesnÕt have contacts in the Christian book market.
In nonfiction, heÕs very interested in increasing his list in history (including micro-histories), business, and political thoughtÐbut not screeds.

Barry Goldblatt
Barry Goldblatt Literary (BG Literary)Accepting SubmissionsQuery Method(s): Online Form >Biography
Barry Goldblatt is a literary agent with Barry Goldblatt Literary. Barry says: “To paraphrase Garrett Morris of SNL, children’s books have been very, very good to me. It was never my planned career option, however.
I came to New York in the summer of 1989 after graduating from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Journalism. I’d just finished an intensive six-week course on science fiction with James Gunn there, and I was determined to come to the city and get an editorial job at a science fiction magazine or book publishing company. If I’d only done a little research beforehand, I’d have realized how few editorial positions there were that fit that description. Fortunately I had a great interviewer at Simon & Schuster who explained a bunch of other job options, including describing the subsidiary rights department, which sounded like a lot of fun. I added that to my application letters and suddenly started getting a lot more calls for interviewsÉbut none of them with science fiction or fantasy publishers.
I was running low on cash and starting to worry when I got a call to meet with Donne Forrest, the Subsidiary Rights Director at Dutton Children’s Books and Dial Books for Young Readers. I liked her immediately and we had a good interview. She sent me home with three books: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor, Interstellar Pig by William Sleator, and Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne. I read them all that night, and she called and offered me the job the next day. She made it clear to me that she needed a body right then, but she’d completely understand if I found a job in SF&F in the near future and left. Six months later, I got a call from Tor about an editorial assistant jobÉand I said “no thanks, not interested.” I’d fallen in love with children’s books, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Two years later I was laid off by Penguin (after just signing a lease for a more expensive studio in the East Village to boot!), but fortunately landed a new job as the subsidiary rights associate at The Putnam and Grosset Group. After a couple of years there, I was handed a true golden ticket: I was hired as the Rights and Contracts Director at Orchard Books.
When news came in 2000 that Scholastic was buying Orchard, I had to decide what to do with my future. I’d always thought of agenting as an opportunity down the road, but I certainly hadn’t planned to do it so soon. I talked with several people about it, including award-winning author Angela Johnson, who basically said that if I did decide to agent, she’d be my first client. With that kind of vote of confidence, I took the leap and in September 2000 opened my agency, and it is without a doubt the best move I’ve ever made.”

Biography
Christine Goss is a literary agent for FinePrint Literary. She graduated from Lake Forest College with a BA in communications. Formerly a sales representative, her skills pair well with her love of reading and story development. As an author herself, the craft of writing is very important to her when she looks at manuscripts. In 2023, Christine was promoted to Associate Literary Agent at The Purcell Agency, moving over to FinePrint Literary in 2024.
Christine is drawn to stories with high stakes and tension. The first pages must draw her in with action and curiosity. Lyrical writing, along with emotionality, physicality, and interiority, are all key components Christine looks for in a manuscript.
Christine is generally interested in romance, historical fiction, book club fiction, and fantasy. Non-fiction and graphic novels covering a specific range of topics are also of interest. Championing marginalized voices is important to Christine as she seeks to include BIPOC, LGTBQ+, and neurodivergent (and more) authors on her list.
When sheÕs not working, reading, or writing, sheÕs usually chasing her two boys, who are likely chasing her fur baby (dog).
