Susan Ginsburg is a literary agent with Writers House Literary Agency. Susan says: “I’ve been in the business for over 35 years, and with Writers House for 25. I got my start on the editorial side, as editor-in-chief of St. Martin’s and Atheneum Books and Executive Editor of Pocket Books at Simon & Schuster, where I had the fortune to publish such wonderful writers as Alice Walker (THE COLOR PURPLE) and John Irving (THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP). My agenting career has spanned both fiction and non-fiction, and I continue to work closely with all my authors editorially. Right now, I am especially looking for fiction—particularly, literary voices who have a great story to tell, filled with emotionally compelling characters—but would also love to see the commercial fiction, unique memoirs, and rich narrative non-fiction that I’ve enjoyed working with throughout the years. I am not the right agent for picture books, science-fiction, or epic fantasy (though fantastical elements and magical realism are welcomed!).”
