Biography
Jan Kardys is a literary agent with Black Hawk Literary Agency. She says: “As the President and Literary Agent at Black Hawk Literary & Portfolio Agency, I help aspiring and established writers achieve their publishing goals. With over 40 years of experience in the book publishing industry, I have worked in executive positions at ten of the major book publishers, including Doubleday, St. Martin’s Press, Scholastic, and Google. I have extensive expertise in editorial, contracts, rights, production, marketing, and consulting.
I am also the Chairman and Founder of Unicorn Writers’ Conference, Inc., a unique and innovative event that connects writers with agents, editors, and publishers. The conference features workshops, panels, pitch sessions, manuscript reviews, and networking opportunities. Since 2008, the conference has been featured in Writer’s Digest Magazine and has sold out five years in a row. My mission is to empower and educate writers and to foster a supportive and inclusive community.”
